Lazy Guy Distillery is preparing for its biggest expansion since opening in downtown Kennesaw in 2014. The new project at 2690 Keene Street NW pairs a larger distillery with Kennesaw Stillhouse, a new food concept built around small plates, cocktails, and Lazy Guy spirits.
Owner and first-generation distiller Mark Allen opened Lazy Guy at 2950 Moon Station Road, transforming a historic house and barn into one of metro Atlanta’s early craft whiskey distilleries. Using Georgia-grown grains, Lazy Guy developed a lineup that includes bourbon, rye whiskey, corn whiskey, rum, brandy, and specialty releases.
A Larger Lazy Guy Distillery
The new Keene Street building is planned at approximately 7,000 square feet on a 0.6-acre property near The Landing and Summers Street.
Plans show a brick street-facing building with arched windows, production space, covered outdoor seating, a walk-up bar, and lawn space. A decorative grain silo incorporated into the design is architectural rather than functional.
The move gives Lazy Guy considerably more room for whiskey production and hospitality while keeping both parts of the business on the same property.
Kennesaw Stillhouse Adds the Food
Kennesaw Stillhouse will provide the kitchen and dining side of the new operation.
The menu is planned around seasonal tapas, elevated appetizers, and small plates designed to pair with Lazy Guy cocktails and spirits. Instead of treating the distillery and restaurant as separate businesses, the food concept is being built around the whiskey, bourbon, gin, and specialty releases produced on site.
Plans for the interior call for exposed brick, dark ceilings, contemporary furnishings, and views into the distillery.
It is a notable change from the Moon Station Road operation, where the focus has largely remained on spirits, cocktails, tastings, and outdoor seating.
More Room to Make Whiskey
Lazy Guy is expanding its production equipment as part of the move.
A 2026 Kickstarter campaign raised $31,800 from 73 backers toward the purchase of a new 100-gallon whiskey still. The equipment will supplement the distillery’s existing 325-gallon still and has already been purchased for the new facility.
Lazy Guy’s lineup includes Georgia straight bourbon, wheated bourbon, rye whiskey, rum, corn whiskey, barrel-finished releases, single-barrel selections, Midnight Express Coffee Liqueur, and Snow Cream.
From Moon Station Road to Keene Street
The original Lazy Guy property had an unusual charm of its own. Whiskey was made in a historic barn, cocktails were poured nearby, and much of the experience revolved around the porch and outdoor space.
The Keene Street project takes that same idea and gives it more room. Lazy Guy will gain a larger production facility and bar, while Kennesaw Stillhouse will add a full food program to the operation.
Construction is underway, although an official opening date has not been announced. Lazy Guy Distillery continues operating at 2950 Moon Station Road while the new Keene Street property is completed.
