Kennesaw is gaining a major corporate presence as Yamaha relocates its U.S. headquarters from Cypress, California, to Kennesaw. The transition will occur in phases between late 2026 and the end of 2028, bringing additional corporate leadership and operations to a city where Yamaha already maintains significant business activity.
Yamaha has operated in the Kennesaw area for years. The company moved its Marine Business division to the city in 1999, followed by its Motorsports Business in 2019. With both divisions already based in Cobb County, the decision to place the company’s national headquarters in Kennesaw expands the role the area plays in Yamaha’s operations across the United States.
The headquarters move represents a major win for Kennesaw and a notable economic development opportunity for the region. Corporate headquarters bring executive leadership, administrative roles, and professional services that often support surrounding businesses. Restaurants, hotels, service providers, and other local companies typically see increased activity when a large corporate office grows in the area.
Kennesaw has become an attractive destination for companies relocating or expanding operations, due in part to its access to major transportation corridors, nearby talent from regional universities, and its position within the growing Atlanta metro area. Yamaha’s decision further strengthens Kennesaw and Cobb County’s reputation as a place where large companies are choosing to grow.
The shift from California to Georgia will occur gradually. Yamaha expects to move to Kennesaw in phases starting in late 2026 and ending in 2028 to maintain business continuity during the relocation.
The Cypress campus has served as the company’s U.S. headquarters for roughly 50 years. Yamaha acquired the land in 1978 and established the facility in 1979. As part of the relocation plan, the company intends to sell the property and other fixed assets at the site.
Once the transition is complete, Kennesaw will serve as the hub for Yamaha’s U.S. operations. With existing marine and motorsports divisions already operating locally, the headquarters move further consolidates Yamaha’s leadership and business functions in Cobb County.
For the city of Kennesaw and the surrounding area, the relocation signals continued growth and another high-profile company choosing to plant deeper roots in the region.
