Scarecrows on Main

Scarecrows on Main is a unique event in Downtown Kennesaw that invites the public to design and create scarecrows. These scarecrows are then displayed on Main Street, adding a festive and creative touch to the downtown area.

The event is open to a wide range of participants, including local residents, families, neighborhoods, non-profit organizations, civic and faith-based groups, schools, sports teams, and local businesses. Each participant is encouraged to bring their creativity to life by designing a scarecrow that reflects their style or message.

There are specific guidelines to ensure that all scarecrows are suitable for public display and can withstand outdoor conditions. Each scarecrow must be freestanding and fit within a 4×4 ft space. The use of real pumpkins is not allowed, and all scarecrows should be family-friendly. Participants are responsible for maintaining their scarecrows throughout the event, ensuring they remain in good condition and do not obstruct pedestrian or street traffic.

The Scarecrows on Main event takes place in October, transforming Main Street into a colorful and imaginative display of community creativity. In addition, the community is involved in celebrating the creativity by voting for their favorite scarecrows. The top three scarecrows receive the “People’s Choice” award, with monetary prizes for the winners. The scarecrow with the most votes earns the top prize along with bragging rights.
