Reformation Brewery Announces Downtown Kennesaw Expansion

Reformation Brewery is officially bringing its craft beer, spirits, and signature laid-back atmosphere to Downtown Kennesaw. The North Georgia brewery has announced plans to open a new location at the northwest corner of Main Street and J.O. Stephenson Avenue at 2861 Main Street, with construction set to begin soon and an anticipated opening in 2027.

The project will feature two buildings: a two-story, 6,886-square-foot taproom with two bar areas and a wrap-around second-floor patio, and a separate 1,300-square-foot distilling facility that will serve as the base for Reformation’s growing spirits program. Outside, guests can look forward to an open-air green space called “Kennesaw’s Backyard,” designed for casual drinks, events, and social gatherings.

The tap list will include 24 selections, featuring Reformation’s well-known craft beers along with ready-to-drink cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and handcrafted mixed drinks. Wine selections and a food partner are still being finalized, and an adjacent restaurant in the historic Whistlestop building is planned to complement the new destination.

This expansion is a partnership between Reformation Brewery and local developers Dale Hughes, Peter Coffman, and Steve Harrell. “Downtown Kennesaw is undergoing a thoughtful transformation that is attractive to a small business like Reformation,” said Spencer Nix, Co-Founder and CEO of Reformation Brewery. “We’re proud to be part of this reformation, offering a third space where neighbors can gather, connect, and celebrate life’s moments.”

The collaboration reflects a shared focus on thoughtful growth in Kennesaw’s revitalized downtown area, which now features Depot Park, the United Bankshares Amphitheater, and a growing lineup of restaurants and events. The entertainment district designation allows guests to enjoy beverages while exploring the area’s walkable streets and local shops.

Since opening in Woodstock in 2013, Reformation Brewery has grown to include locations in Canton and Smyrna, each known for their focus on quality craftsmanship and meaningful connections. The Kennesaw project will mark another milestone in that story, expanding both the brewery’s reach and its commitment to creating spaces that bring people together through shared experiences and great drinks.

The Reformation Brewery Groundbreaking Ceremony takes place on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 1 pm. Hiring information and project updates will be shared on Reformation’s website as the development moves forward.

In 2021, this location was approved to become a Dry County Brewery tap room and restaurant. From the Kennesaw City Council Meeting Agenda, March 1, 2021 at 6:30 pm:

The Central Business District project approval application submitted is for the restoration of the former Whistle Stop Restaurant to serve as a coffee, breakfast, and dessert café. The project also includes the new construction of an adjoining building that will be the location of the Dry County Brewery tap room and restaurant. This project will incorporate an open plaza concept that will front Main Street. Motion approved, 4-0-1. Motion carried.

Unfortunately Dry County Brewing Company went out of business towards the end of 2023 and their assets were sold at auction in June of 2024.
