Poké House is opening a Kennesaw restaurant at Barrett Corners Phase III, the new retail development replacing the former LA Fitness at 1185 Ernest W. Barrett Parkway.
The California born poke chain focuses on customizable Hawaiian style poke bowls built with raw fish, chicken, tofu, rice, greens, vegetables, toppings, and house sauces. Poke House currently has one Georgia restaurant in Buckhead at 3280 Peachtree Road, making Kennesaw the brand’s next move into the Atlanta suburbs.
What Is Poke House?
Poke House traces its roots to San Jose, California, where its original Hostetter Road restaurant opened in 2015. The company has since expanded across California and into Georgia, Oregon, and Nevada.
Poke, pronounced poh keh, originated in Hawaii and traditionally consists of diced raw fish seasoned with ingredients such as soy sauce, sesame oil, onions, and seaweed. Poke House takes that basic idea in a California direction, allowing customers to assemble bowls from a long list of proteins, bases, sauces, vegetables, and toppings.
Signature bowls include House Salmon with Scottish salmon, edamame, cucumber, masago, furikake, sriracha aioli, and citrus ponzu; Tuna Lover with ahi tuna, spicy tuna, and garlic oyster tuna; and Miso Salmon. Chicken options include Crispy Shoyu Chicken and Roasted Miso Chicken. The menu also includes sushi hand rolls, Spam musubi, salmon and tofu ochazuke, and miso soup.
For customers who prefer to make their own decisions, and perhaps regret them only after adding their seventh topping, the build your own format allows a bowl to be assembled by selecting a size, base, protein, mix ins, sauce, and toppings. Current protein choices at Poke House include ahi tuna, salmon, shrimp, tofu, and chicken.
Poke House also gives Kennesaw a second new restaurant with Hawaiian roots. Momoyama Ramen & Hawaiian BBQ is also preparing to open at 2615 George Busbee Parkway, combining ramen with Hawaiian barbecue plates, while Poke House will focus primarily on poke bowls and other Hawaiian inspired dishes.
Barrett Corners Phase III
Barrett Corners Phase III is a D&G Development Group project at the former LA Fitness property. The 4.65 acre redevelopment calls for about 34,000 square feet of restaurant, retail, and service space.
LA Fitness closed at the property in December 2025 after operating there since 2011. Before the gym arrived, the roughly 39,000 square foot building was a Circuit City.
City Barbeque has also signed on for Barrett Corners Phase III, adding smoked brisket and ribs to a redevelopment that will now have poke at the other end of the culinary spectrum. Also coming to the new development is Caribou Coffee and Sugar Polish Nail Bar, along with promotional materials showing new locations for T-Mobile and Kay Jewelers.
The Barrett Corners Phase III redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2027.
