Menorah Lighting Ceremony

The City of Kennesaw, in partnership with Chabad of Kennesaw, is hosting a Menorah Lighting celebration at Depot Park.  The event takes place on the fourth night of Hanukkah. The eight-day Jewish holiday commemorates the Jewish Maccabees’ military victory over Syrian-Greek oppression more than 2,000 years ago.

During Hanukkah, the Jewish faith across the world celebrate the miracle of light that burned for eight days with just a days worth of oil. A Hanukkah candle is lit on the first night and an additional candle is lit each successive night. The holiday is a celebration of religious freedom and hope.

The Menorah will be placed on Main Street, moved to Depot Park for the event so there is enough room for attendees, and then moved back to Main Street. There will be a reception before with refreshments available.
