Excel At Math is opening soon in Kennesaw, led by owner and director Yasmine D. Julien, MA, M.Ed. After years teaching math and later working as a math instructional coach, Julien said she kept seeing the same turning point for students. “When students truly understood the concepts and how they build on one another, their confidence soared,” she said. She also noticed many students got written off early. “I also saw how many capable students were labeled as ‘not good at math’ simply because it had never been taught in a way that made sense to them,” Julien said.
Julien describes Excel At Math in clear, parent-friendly terms: “Excel At Math is a warm, welcoming place where students are met right where they are and given the time and support to truly understand math without pressure or frustration.” She added, “Whether a child needs to rebuild their confidence or is ready for more advanced or college level dual enrollment coursework, we walk alongside them so they feel capable, supported, and prepared to succeed.”
New students start with a diagnostic assessment, then receive a personalized learning plan based on the results. “Every student begins with a diagnostic assessment so we can understand exactly where they are and what they need,” Julien said. “From there, we create a personalized learning plan and place them in the right small group or individual setting, with clear goals and regular progress updates so families can see steady growth and real results.”
Excel At Math works with students catching up on fundamentals, students ready for acceleration, and students who feel anxious about math. “We support a wide range of learners, including students who need to catch up on foundational skills, those ready for enrichment or acceleration, and especially students who feel anxious or discouraged about math,” Julien said. She also shared how sessions are structured: “Each session follows a clear teaching cycle that begins with targeted skill building based on their diagnostic results, moves into guided homework support, and ends with learning a new concept to keep them progressing.”
Grand Opening on Sunday, February 8, 2026
Excel At Math will hold a grand opening on Sunday, February 8, at its Kennesaw location. Families can tour the center, meet the tutors, and learn about programs. Julien said, “We will have math games, giveaways, light refreshments, and plenty of time for families to ask questions and connect.” RSVP is optional. “Guests are welcome to RSVP or simply drop in,” she said.
SAT Prep Bootcamp Before the March SAT
Excel At Math is also launching a 4-Week Intensive SAT Prep Bootcamp designed for students preparing for the March SAT. Julien said families often learn an important lesson the hard way: “Doing well in math class does not automatically translate to SAT success.” She explained, “Classroom learning builds knowledge, but the SAT also requires speed, strategy, and stamina under timed pressure.”
The bootcamp runs February 11 through March 12 2026 and meets three days per week for 1.5 hours each day, for 18 total hours. Students receive targeted concept review, guided practice, and timed exams. Julien said, “Students receive 4.5 hours of focused instruction each week with targeted concept review, guided practice, and timed exams so they walk into test day feeling prepared and confident.”
