Sky Zone Trampoline Park

Activities like SkySlam Basketball, SkyRobics and Ultimate Dodgeball may sound like playtime, but there’s a hidden benefit to a visit to Sky Zone Trampoline Park’s Kennesaw location — fitness. “Our wall-to-wall trampolines are fabulous for all ages, and you can burn up to 1,000 calories an hour,” says Sue Spinos, managing partner of the innovative indoor play complex. “You can jump on the Main Court, freestyle jump in the Foam Zone, play dodgeball or volleyball or take fitness classes. We’ve been voted the No. 1 out-of-the-box workout.”

The Kennesaw location opened in 2013; it’s one of more than 120 Sky Zones in North America, with others opening regularly around the world in Australia, Canada and Mexico. Created in 2004 as the world’s first all-trampoline walled playing courts, Sky Zone’s open activities and team sports are designed for all skill levels. In addition to open jump, the facility offers a flying experience in the Foam Zone, with guests jumping, flying and flipping off a trampoline runway into a pit filled with thousands of foam cubes. SkySlam makes any level player look like a basketball pro with the help of flying-high jumps.

“We’re starting our competitive dodgeball teams to prepare for the national dodgeball tournament in all our locations later this year,” Spinos says. “We’ll have regular practices and derby events for various age groups.”

As for the fitness angle, the Kennesaw location offers multiple weekly SkyRobics sessions. Typically 60 minutes long, classes are taught by SkyRobic instructors and offer a number of health benefits. “Sometimes it’s tough to get to the gym but when exercise is fun, people are more motivated,” Spinos says. “Working out at Sky Zone helps boost your metabolism, and burn fat and calories. It’s also great for cardiovascular health, building core strength and helping with balance.” Spinos says that the aerobic exercise combined with bouncing nets great results. “Not only does your heart muscle get stronger,” she adds, “all your muscles grow stronger, too. Jumping tones your stomach, back and legs, plus your blood circulation improves. And, best of all, SkyRobics is a low-impact workout so you’re not putting extra stress on your bones and joints.”
