The 2010 Kennesaw Farmers Market is back and bigger than ever. Now in it’s sixth season, the farmers market takes place every Tuesday morning and Thursday evening from May through October.

On Tuesdays from 7am to 1pm, local farmers and merchants offer fresh tomatoes, flowers, seasonal fruits and vegetables, baked goods, plants, herbs, and a variety of local food and products. Be sure to get there early for the best selection.

NEW: The Kennesaw Farmers Market is now also open on Thursday evenings from 4pm to 8pm. Bring some great fresh local food home for dinner. The market will not be open on Thursday, August 19 due to preparations for the Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival.

Taste of Kennesaw

Bring your appetite to the 2010 Taste of Kennesaw in downtown Kennesaw on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 11am to 8pm. More than 40 different local restaurants will be on hand to showcase their delicious creations. Food samples are sold in $0.50 increments, from $0.50 to $4.00.

While you are there, you can also enjoy live music on two entertainment stages. Main Street Stage and Depot Stage will have continuous entertainment throughout the day.

Bring the kids and enjoy the wide variety of activities for the kids including a rock wall, inflatables and slides, a trackless train, and more.

The event benefits four local charities including Shop with a Mustang (Kennesaw Mountain High School), Shop with a Warrior (North Cobb High School), MUST Ministries, and the Jerry Worthan Community Christmas Fund.

In addition, restaurants will also be competing for recognition in the following categories:

Best Food Presentation
Best Decorated Tent
Best Appetizer

Kennesaw, Georgia named Tree City USA

The National Arbor Day foundation has named Kennesaw, Georgia as a Tree City USA community. Kennesaw became a tree city by having a comprehensive community forestry program, an Arbor Day observance proclamation, a tree care ordinance, and a tree board/department. This is the first year that Kennesaw has received this important national recognition. According to the Arbor Day foundation, in addition to environmental protection and reduced energy consumption, properly placed trees can increase property values from seven to twenty one percent.
