Fireworks and Summer Concert Series

The Kennesaw summer concert series continues with Frontiers | The Journey Tribute on Friday, July 3 2009 from 8pm to 11pm. Frontiers is a Journey tribute band comprised of musicians who share a love and respect for the music, energy and arena rock era of the band Journey.

A patriotic fireworks show begins after the sun goes down, and concertgoers can enjoy Kennesaw’s annual pre-Independence Day fireworks.

Parking will be available along Main Street, at the intersection of Main Street and Moon Station Road, behind the Southern Museum (off Shirley drive), and off Sardis Street (near the intersection of Big Shanty Drive). Cherokee Street, from Main Street to Big Shanty Drive, will be closed during concerts.

Kennesaw Youth Sports Spectacular & Citywide Picnic

From 10am to 2pm on July 25, 2009, the Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Kennesaw Youth Sports Spectacular and Citywide Picnic. The event brings together representatives from the Kennesaw Baseball Association, the Kennesaw Futbol Club (soccer), Kennesaw Girls’ Softball Association, and the Kennesaw Youth Football and Cheerleading Association. The organizations will conduct onfield demonstrations allowing the kids to test their skills at a variety of team sports. Registration for fall leagues will be available as well as interaction with guest coaches and athletes.

Free hot dogs and drinks will be provided along with inflatables, interactive games, and promotional giveaways.

Slithery Serpent Study @ Smith-Gilbert Gardens

If studying slithery serpents sounds special, check out this event at the Smith-Gilbert Gardens (formerly Smith-Gilbert Arboretum) from 9:30 am to 11am on July 1, 2009. The event covers benefits of snakes, how to tell which ones are poisonous, and general information about the various species.
